John is the Senior Director of Thought Leadership at the National Safety Council. In this capacity, he oversees the Campbell Institute, the global EHS&S center of excellence, as well as Safe Actions for Employee Returns (SAFER), NSC’ s COVID-19 response initiative, and Work to Zero, focused on serious injury and fatality prevention through technology. John also leads a variety of other research and impact initiatives including programs related to psychological safety, ESG & sustainability, and more.

Since joining the National Safety Council in 2007, John has led numerous high-impact programs, including the prestigious Robert W. Campbell Award. John is a frequent speaker at conferences in North America and Europe on topics including the future of work, emerging trends in EHS&S, management systems, leadership, and leading indicators. Prior to joining the Council, John held quality management, project management, and coalition-building positions in the communication and educational fields.

During a very successful 24-year career in the British Army, James attained the rank of Warrant Officer before leaving in 2011. In the last six years, he saw the benefits of Health and Safety as a second career and, using his Army appointments, started to train as a Health and Safety Advisor/Trainer in 2006.

Five years later, after leaving the Army and having worked on many health and safety projects, he moved to Babcock International PLC as a HSE Trainer, then Advisor before becoming a Health and Safety Manager for a large Middle East transport group.

He has continued working as an H&E Lead in construction, most recently with Multiplex on the iconic Broadway project in London, after leaving Abu Dhabi, where he had been Multiplex’ s Area OHS Manager.

A Chartered Fellow of IOSH and a member of CIOB, James is also a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. He is also Vice-Chair of the IOSH Construction Group.

Ehi Iden is an Occupational Safety, Health and Wellness Consultant with over 20 years’ work experience spanning through healthcare management, patient safety improvement and Occupational Health and Safety Management. He holds an MBA and M.Sc. in Workplace Health and Safety and currently a Doctoral Fellow having Workplace Health and Wellness Promotion as his study area. He is a certified Life Coach, a Mental Health Ambassador and also a Patient Safety Ambassador at Patient Safety Movement Foundation (PSMF).
Ehi is a trainer and a conference speaker of interest. He is the founding CEO of Occupational Health and Safety Managers (OHSM), a Head of Faculty at OSHversity and President, OSHAfrica.

He is a Member, Board of Trustees in Occupational Safety and Health Africa Foundation (OSHAfrica) and Board Member, Occupational Health Research and Development Initiative (OHRDI). He is in the Board of Workplace Health Without Borders (WHWB) Canada, also in the Advisory Board of Patient Safety Movement Foundation, USA. He is a Citizens’ Advocate in Safety Governance Foundation, Australia.
