Runaway power steering injures mechanic.
While repairing a large-sized lift truck, a mechanic turned the steering wheel to the extreme left end, keeping the engine running, in order to make space between the rear wheels and the chassis. He then crept into the space for the repair work, when the power steering was actuated all of sudden for some reason or other. The mechanic was crushed between the wheel and the chassis, and suffered a serious injury at the chest.

Corrective Action
1. Stop the engine before starting with the work.
2. Insert a pillar or block for safety to prevent possible runaway movement of moving parts.
3. Make sure that servicing large-sized lift truck is carried out by two mechanics in pair.
