Flying
metal chip hits worker, breaking tooth. |
A worker hit a track
shoe hard with a sledgehammer, because the track tension-adjusting
cylinder would not contract. A metal shard chipped off from the hammer
went flying and hit the worker's cheek. He had one of his teeth broken as
a result. |

Corrective Action |
1.
|
Do not strike
hard objects with a hammer. When striking, use a seat of copper, brass or
wood. |
2.
|
Gain correct
knowledge on how to contract a track link-adjusting cylinder. If the
cylinder will not contract even after removing grease, let the machine
travel back and forth, or place a wooden block under the track shoe
assembly. |
