Results of Industrial Accident Trend Survey

Terminology

The "frequency rate" is defined as the incidence of industrial accidents as expressed by the number of casualties per million actual man-hours.

Calculation formula:

(Number of persons killed or injured by industrial accidents) x 1,000,000
(Total working hours)

The "severity rate" is defined as the seriousness of accidents as expressed by the lost working days per 1,000 actual man-hours.

Calculation formula:

(Lost work days) x 1,000
(Total working hours)

"Lost work days" is defined as the number of work days lost by industrial accidents.
