Industrial Accident Casualties Attributed to Presses and Other Machines

--- Injuries caused by press, shear or similar machines in Japan with four or more lost workdays (provided by the Ministry of Labour using workmen' s compensation insurance data)
--- All injuries, including those not related to press or shear, which occurred in the member companies of the Japan Metal Stamping Association(JMSA) with one or more lost workday(s)
--- Injuries caused by press or shear or similar machines which occurred in the member companies of the Japan Metal Stamping Association with one or more lost workday(s) This figure shows that very few injuries, maybe less than 2%, even if unreported cases are taken into account, of injuries occurs in the member companies outside the JMSA, whereas the product share of the member companies of JMSA is approximately 70%. (Assuming the number of injuries with four or more lost workdays is the half, 10, of injuries with one or more lost workday(s), i.e. 21 in 1998) The number of all press machine is in Japan is estimated to be approximately 300,000 , including approximately 20,000 installed in the members of JMSA.
