"OSHMS and Risk Assessment at BP p.l.c.*)"

On October 2, 2003, Dr. Suppiah Veerasingam, the Health, Safety, Environment and Security Advisor for BP Malaysia, made a speech on the OSHMS and risk management efforts made by BP.

From the experiences of a severe explosion at Piper Alpha oilfield in 1988 which resulted in 167 fatalities and other serious accidents in the petroleum industry, BP established its own safety and health management system, which has been successfully implemented by the worldwide BP network.

Mr. Veerasingam is the Vice President of the Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH).
