What kind of accident is about to happen?
During excavation work using a small drag shovel, workers tried to remove a large rock from the excavation site by tying a wire around the rock and pulling it up with the bucket. When the shovel began to wobble, one worker tried to keep the shovel balanced by standing on the back.
Can you predict what's about to happen?

Look what happened!
The shovel careened forward, causing the worker on the back to fall off. The slinging wire then fell off the bucket, releasing the rock. The worker ended up pinned beneath the shovel when it settled back on the ground.

Tips for preventing similar accidents
1. Use a crane or drag shovel of adequate capacity for the work to be done.
2. Do not ride on a machine anywhere other than the operator's seat.
3. Always use the proper equipment to perform slinging work.
4. Assign someone to serve as a signaler when performing lifting work.
