Slipping- up support bar breaks mechanic's finger.
Two mechanics were working on a bulldozer to disassemble the track links. One of the two applied a bar on to the master pin and the other was hitting the bar head with a sledgehammer. But, unaware that the bar end was displaced from the master pin, the second mechanic still continued with hitting. As a result the bar jumped up and hit the first mechanic. He had the middle finger of his right hand broken. .

Corrective Action
1. Provide for a special tool for the purpose, train the mechanics for the proper use and see that the tool is used without fail.
2. If a bar is to be used as in this case, make sure that the bar is correctly applied to the aimed pin, and the mechanics conduct the work in harmony with each other.
