When stepping down from the bed of a truck, a worker caught his foot on the corner of a wooden beam, fell down, and sprained his ankle.

After unloading a wooden beam from the bed of a service truck, and then doing some other work, a worker backed the truck up to where the beam had been unloaded. When he tried to step down from the truck bed with a tool, he caught his left foot on the corner of the beam, fell down, and sprained his ankle.

Corrective Action
1. Check your foot placement and climb down from vehicles carefully.
2. Clear up work sites, especially around workers’ footing areas.
3. Place toolboxes in a location where they can be accessed without having to climb onto the truck bed.
