Chapter III. Miscellaneous Provisions

(Exceptions concerning Mines)

Article 57. In relation to the designation of industry concerning mines stipulated in Article 4 of the Mines Law (Law No. 289 of 1950), "Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare" and "the Central Labour Standards Council" in Article 2, paragraph 2, shall read as "Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare and the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry" and "the Labour Policy Council and the Central Mine Safety Conference" respectively.

2. In relation to associations related to mines stipulated in Article 4 of the Mines Law. "Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare" and "Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Ordinance" in Chapter II (excluding the part related to industrial accident prevention rules and Article 52) shall read as "Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare and the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry" and "Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Ordinance and Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Ordinance" respectively, and "Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare" in Article 52 shall read as "Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare or the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry".

(Exemption from Application)

Article 58. The provisions of this Law shall not apply to the business undertakings by the State, local public bodies and the Public Corporations.

2. The provisions of Chapter II (limited to the part related to industrial accident prevention rules) shall not apply to the safety in a mine (including hygienic ventilation and rescue at the time of a disaster) stipulated in Article 2, paragraphs 2 and 4 of the Mine Safety Law (Law No. 70 of 1 949).

3. This Law shall not apply to the mariners covered by the Mariners Law (Law No. 100 of 1947).
